It’s Time to Go Beyond Kenya’s Borders
During the time of persecution under Edi Amin, the Church in Uganda had to go underground. When Amin was gone, to everyone’s amazement, the Church had grown under his harsh rule. The church leaders in Uganda recognized the need for new Bible training schools and requested that LeRoy Curtis and Larry Neese establish a school in Uganda. It has been 10 years since those first brothers crossed the border and came to our campus in Kitale with their request for help.
It has only been in the last few months that funds have been donated to make the dream of UMTI a reality. In the last 6 months, Bob and Dee Vande Brake, with the help of friends, have raised the money necessary to launch the first year of classes with a limited budget.
Two trips have been made to Uganda to secure a school site and begin the paperwork for government registration. Bob Vande Brake visited the last week of November, 2007 to finalize the plans for the school. At this time, we are planning to have UMTI start classes by the summer of 2008. Please pray with us for this new ministry training institute. Uganda is the first of several East African nations we are planning to expand into over the next few years.
